Crayon Painitng

Last night I was looking through pinterest, and I came across a crayon painting. I was intrigued and looked up many more, as I did I thought, oh I could do this, easy! So I went out and bought 3 boxes of 24 pack Crayola crayons, 2 packs large Crayola crayons, and 3 packs of Crayola "Mermaid Shimmer".

In my first attempt I made a color chart on a 12x12 white canvas to see how the blow dryer would melt the crayons. Using all the primary and secondary colors of the 2 large crayon packs, and the smaller crayons to separate them, I lined them up and glued down with mod podge. I took it outside on a trash bag and heated it up using a blow dryer on high (the lower setting did not melt the crayons on my project.

After finishing I went to work on my black canvas. I stripped the metallic crayons from the Mermaid shimmer pack and broke them in different sizes. Gluing them onto the canvas using a large glue stick in 2 circles and a half circle. I took it outside and slowly began melting section by section, leaning the canvas whichever way I wanted the wax to drip. When the wax was dripping too fast I would turn the blow dryer on cold to stop the flow. After I finished one flower I would move to the next flower. Here is the finished product:

Overall I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.
